Never before have so many women's teams registered for the league in Germany, as this year. For this reason, the regions can be split for the first time in the South, West and North, which also significantly reduces the driving distances for the majority of teams.

The winners of each region will then play against each other to determine the two teams for the final of the German Championship at the end of August.
After a one-year break, the ladies' DCB Super Series (DSSD) is making a comeback with the Northern Thunderbirds and the Southern Stormers. The teams consist of current national players and young women players who successfully completed a training day with national coach Matthew Powell earlier this year.
This competition closes the gap between Bundesliga and national team. The teams play in colored clothes and pink ball, and the games are recorded by German Cricket TV.
At international level, German women will participate in the Dutch T20 League, which will be held in May and early June. This will also serve as preparation for the annual International Tournament. The tournament will take place at the beginning of August in Antwerp, Belgium, and the German team will meet hosts Belgium, as well as Denmark, France and a Dutch junior team.
The longtime captain of the women's national team, Stephanie Frohnmayer, has unfortunately decided to resign from office for personal reasons. Frohnmayer had led the team since its inception in 2009. During this time, the women have advanced extremely, both in the playful and in the personnel area.
The office will take over Anuradha Doddaballapur from Frankfurt CC.
Doddaballapur is a native of Bangalore, India, where she also represented her state Karnataka. Her studies took her to Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, where she played for County Northumberland, among others, before moving to Frankfurt in 2011. After a short break Doddaballapur continued her cricket career in Germany, represented NRW and the ASV Cologne and was an important founding member of the FCC women's team. Her debut in the national team made her in 2013 in Jersey.
Anuradha Doddaballapur is a very experienced and respected player and we wish her every success in her new role.

The German women’s team set out to play a bilateral series against Italy Women, one of our most competitive opponents, in Bologna from May 6-8.
The series consisted of two T20s and one 40 over game. After the long travel to Bologna, the girls had a session of training before the first game on Friday. Germany won the toss and elected to bat. After a good start by M. Daub (10) and S. Mannan (16), A. Doddaballapur (34*) and M. Theron (17) kept the scoreboard ticking. Germany put up a final score of 113 for the Italians to chase. The first Italian wicket fell at 40 runs with a catch in M. Beresford’s over. The Italian women lost successive wickets from then on, exceptional fielding by the German side led to 6 run outs. At 99/5 after 19 overs, S. McAnanama-B. was left with 14 runs to defend in the last over. With another two run outs and a bowled on the last ball, Germany defeated Italy by 10 runs. The day ended with a joint dinner with the Italians.
A 40 over match was scheduled for Saturday. Germany lost the toss and fielded first, where Italy managed to score 187 at the end of 40 overs. They lost 9 wickets, great fielding skills exhibited by the German team aided S. Mayenborg, S. McAnanama-B. and D. Mix in taking 2 wickets each. Additionally, S. Frohnmayer and M. Brauser claimed one wicket each. In the next innings, Germany lost 2 early wickets, but managed to stabilize with A. Doddaballapur (29) and M. Theron (15) at the crease. The middle and lower order batsmen pitched in a few runs, with M. Brauser scoring 10 runs. However, Germany didn’t manage to chase the target and were all out for 126 in the 30th over.
The last game of the series was a T20 game played on Sunday morning. The Italian women won the toss and elected to bat on a fairly wet outfield, yet put up a score of 120 on the board for the loss of 5 wickets . The pick of the bowlers were S. McAnanama-B with 2 wickets, D.Mix and M.Lederer taking one wicket each. With a required run rate of about 6 per over, the German Women had a slow start to the chase and lost a couple of early wickets. An excellent partnership between A. Doddaballapur (30) and skipper S. Frohnmayer (30*) made sure the required run rate was kept in check. With 4 overs left and 26 runs to win, it was M. Brauser (8*) and S. Frohnmayer (30*) in the middle, who kept their nerves and led the German team to a brilliant victory with 6 balls to spare.
Germany Women won the series 2-1 against Italy Women. They look forward to meeting Italy again at the European T20 championship to be held in August in Denmark.
