German Sweet - Sour Beans


1 c. minced onion
1 tbsp. flour
1 I-lb. can green
1/4c. vinegar
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 strips bacon

How to make German Sweet-Sour Beans :

Saute onion in butter until transparent; stir in flour until smooth.
Drain beans, reserving 1/2 cup bean liquid.
Stir reserved bean liquid, 1/4 cup water and vinegar into onion mixture gradually.

Cook, stirring, until smooth and slightly thickened.
Add seasonings and beans; heat through.
Fry bacon until crisp; drain and crumble.
Sprinkle bacon over bean mixture.
