The President is considering pulling the security clearances of former holders of National Security and Federal Bureau of Investigation positions.  Why is this such a big deal?

As a military veteran, I held a security clearance for the entire time I served.  Upon leaving the service I never expected to make use of or have need of my security clearance.  The security clearance is necessary for certain military positions and a very narrow niche of government employment positions.  Security clearances are not needed for the conduct of daily business in ones post-military or civilian retirement.

The attached video of today's White House Press briefing has the security clearance question at approximately the 5:15 mark into the event.
