Zesty Italian Barbecue Meatballs (Slow Cooker)



Ingredients:


Meatballs:

2 lbs. lean ground beef
1 medium opinion, finely chopped
1 cup dried bread crumbs
1/4 cup fresh Italian parsley, minced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 t. ground black pepper
1/2 t. dry mustard
2 eggs, beaten



Sauce:

1 1/2 cups bottled barbecue sauce
3/4 cups tomato paste
1/3 cup ketchup
1/3 cup brown sugar,packed
1/2 cup water, as needed
1 t. liquid smoke



Directions:

IN mixing bowl, mix meatballs ingredients. Form into walnut sized balls. Bake meatballs in shallow baking dish at 350 for 20 minutes or until browned. Drain off fat. Transfer meatballs to slow cooker. In another bowl, mix sausage ingredients and mix thoroughly. Pour sauce over meatballs and stir lightly. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or on high for 2 hours. Stir once in middle of cooking to baste meatballs with sauce. Remove meatballs from the sauce to serve.
