
Hamburgers with mushrooms and sour cream:
Hamburger patties are an incredibly versatile base for making interesting dinners. Here we dress them up with an absolutely delectable sour cream and mushroom sauce. You can make this simple sauce in about the same time it takes to fry the hamburgers. It is essentially the same sort of sauce you use in creating Beef Stroganoff, but even easier to make.
Sour cream and mushroom sauce:
4-5 oz sliced mushrooms:
2 green onions, chopped, green part included
2 Tb olive oil
1/2 cup sour cream (or creme fraiche)
1/2 tsp dill weed
1 Tb dry sherry
lettuce leaves
Saute the mushrooms in the olive oil until they begin to give up their water. Add the green onions and saute another two minutes. Add the sour cream, dill and sherry. Stir and heat through.
Hamburgers with mushroom and sour cream sauce
Cook the hamburger patties and toast the buns lightly so they don't get soggy. Place the patty on the toasted bun and spread some of the sauce on the patty and on the bun. Toast briefly under a broiler add a lettuce leaf and serve at once.
Makes enough sauce for 2-3 burgers.
