Never Dead is based on a man that well never dies. To put it into more perspective your character Brice Boltzmann a demon hunter, that 500 yrs. ago was cursed by a demon to have eternal life ( sounds like my kind of curse). Well time jump with me to modern times, where Brice works for an agency that hunts demons. Even with a pay check Brice is still looking for revenge on the demon that cursed him and killed his fallen comrade. So let's hit this review with guns blazing cause I got a feeling we are in for a hell of a ride.
(Gameplay) The player is Brice a brash trash talking walking piece of gun slinking sword swinging limb breaking killing machine. I know Darc a lil over board much, absolutely not cause everything I said is actually in the game. I love this game from the jump because its semi realistic, cause Brice gets hurt and he gets hurt a lot. Enemies literally will take Brice's arms, legs and head off, but guess what no need to continue from the last checkpoint because he can regenerate or pretty much re attach himself. So Darc you say whats the point of playing a game you can't lose, I said never dead not never lose. Brice can lose because there are enemies that will eat your body parts, if they eat a arm you can regenerate, if they eat a leg you can regenerate if they eat your head you will spend eternity in the bowels of a beast. My complaint on gameplay alone is the aiming due to the camera usage, the camera is controlled by the same right stick that you aim at enemies with. Although theres a solution for this problem because with a simple click of the right stick Brice goes into over the shoulder mode (similar to gears of war camera view) this will take away the wild camera use but Brice can only walk in this state. Never Dead offers a bunch of upgradable moves and weaponry. Still I'm excited to share this game with you because of the authenticity of it, Little vents and shafts Brice needs to enter to get to his next destination are a synch to get through since you can rip off your head and roll it or throw it threw small areas. I must say I'm impressed this gameplay mechanic is different and I like it, but you got a partner that's not so fortunate of having ever lasting life so you got to revive her and protect her at times.
(Graphics) When I see this game on my 1080p tv I think of anime's, its not meant to look real but its meant to look real good. Character models are detailed especially Brice with his riddled jacket that shows he has been in a lot of battles. The demons you face are ugly and heavily detailed which is a good thing but there's not a lot of variety far as basic demons they mostly look the same. Backgrounds fall into place with the comic looking scenario.
(Sound) Wtf at times the background music is loud and sound great, and then sometimes it gets low not to low you can't hear it but you can definitely tell a difference. Voice over acting mostly consist of Brice and his partner bickering back and forth about his pay check.
Overall this game is definitely worth playing in my book, it has its flaws but its so innovative that some flaws can easily be overshadowed. Egem represents extreme and everything that is awesome so Never Dead gets a rating of 3.5 stars
