Simply put, this game is a thriller. The main character Alan Wake is a famous author. Starting off Alan and his wife go on vacation to a small town. Given the key to his cabin by a Women in black, which requested Alan to finish his latest book. Writers block can be deadly, Alan starts to become haunted and his wife is kidnapped by shadowy figures. Can Alan find out if he's insane or is there paranormal activity at work here?
Gameplay: Alan Wake is a third person shooter. Controls are similar to most third person shooters but your gun is your weakest weapon against the dark entities that are taking control of the people in town. The sequences of Alan running feel real ,not to fast and not laggy. Driving scenes are really fun as you run over enemies. ( It keeps going and going) Majority of the game takes place in the dark, and the only weakness your enemies have is light, how lucky are you. Alan is equipped with a flashlight and a handgun but don't get comfortable yet because your flashlights battery will lose power so you will have to find batteries through out your journey. There aren't really any side missions but you can find missing pages of your novel that will give you the heads up on whats gonna happen to you next.
Graphics: The graphics for this game are very realistic, In which make Alan look good, really good and terrifying. The environment is almost as good looking as character models.
Sound: This is pro voice acting at its finest, Emotion is heard with every scream and bellow. ( what's your favorite scary movie?) Alan will make you want to cut on a light if your playing at night, but for Me, I'm not scared, its a good game to challenge your bravery.
