Imagine 10 billion years in the future and the food and energy resources led to war. Well that's what you'll face in the 20th century on Vanquish. America has put there faith in making a space colony called the SC-01 Providence. But the colony inhabited The Order of the Russian Star, a group from the Russian Military, Launching a surprise attack on the colony. Firing a powerful microwave weapon from space to San francisco killing it's population. With only 10 hours to surrender the U.S or the destruction of New York city, the government must retaliate, with a weapon of there own ( an augmented reaction suit provided by Darpa, a well known advanced research projects agency and manned by Sam Gideon, a Researcher for Darpa).
Gameplay: As a third person shooter the controls for the game are smooth and accurate. Shooting and dodging bullets area as simple as it gets. There's also a feature that allows you to react in real time after you attain enough damage. Boss battles are epic with plenty of approaches to take out the enemy. There's also a slide and dive cover system to catch your breath or to strategically take out foes.
Graphics: Drawn to perfection, the vivid 1080p graphics look sweet and as you get more weapons you can see your current rifle transform into a shotgun or machine gun. The environment looks good and from a N.A.S.A private blueprint.
Sound: Back ground music is fast paced and techno-ish which is good in the heat of battle. Voice acting is kind of corny, kind of corny, really corny but it works like your average anime.
Emeg-Mag Verdict:
4 out of 5 stars
Vanquish is definitely worth a play. It's a fast paced ride through futuristic gunplay.
