Well guys, this is gonna be my first (and Im sure not last) review of a really bad game. I only spent 3-4 hours with this one, as it was all I could bear and was absolutely frustrated. When I was on vacation I saw a commercial for it on g4 and thought it looked really cool. It reminded me of the glory days of action/rpg's and hack n' slashers. I was immediately reminded of games like Gauntlet, Champions of Norrath, and Baldur's gate. Then i got home and played the rotten thing.....
I'll say it again, I was really excited when I first saw this one and I am truly baffled at how Square Enix could screw a game like this up so badly. The story...lame, the voice acting...horrific, and the controls...just plain bad. It's obviously meant to be played on a PC. Even in the early stages, before I had even leveled to 3. I found myself overwhelmed by enemies with nowhere to run and no time to heal. And death after death after creeping death soon followed. It's only saving grace were the graphics, while not mind-blowing by any means they are pretty polished for a top-down action/rpg.
I used to love these kinds of games, maybe I don't have the patience for them anymore, or maybe I'm being too harsh. I'm sure theres a core group of PC die-hards that love this series and will love this game. just wasn't for me. And I know they're gonna hate me for this but I give DS3 on xbox360/ps3 an unholy, ugly, stinking 1.5 out of 5 bags.
