- Collaborative = learners interact with each other, and their instructor
- Situated = learning is situated in a realistic context
- Active = learners are actively engaged, and must do something with the content
- Mobile = learning is facilitated by mobile technologies, and learners are freed from the tether of traditional classroom routines.
