In 2010, the CAP identified the need to more fully develop the competencies started in 2005 and the CAP Competency Model for Pathologists was started. The CAP intends this model to serve as a guide for pathologists in career planning, practice re-tooling, meeting MOC requirements, preparing for board recertification, planning CME, and/or targeting performance improvement.
