Odd Jobs Wanted was founded by Barry Marshall and Catherine Macfarlane. Frustrated by the inflexible hiring process of companies and lack of creative freedom, professionals Barry and Cathy decided not only to create a business that gave them work but put other people to work as well. Most people are generalists and have many skills that they can offer, but the narrow confines of most job descriptions restricts people. At Odd Jobs Wanted, 1 day you could be getting the shopping for a pensioner and next working as a PA to a company chairmen. Our secondary aim was to create community and get people interacting on a much broader scale. Barry is ex army with a degree in engineering, has worked on the oil rigs worldwide and retrained as a ships carpenter. Cathy is a mother of 5, marketing consultant, seamstress and all round good egg!
