This room is a place to rest on call, order out food and meet senior doctors to whom one can pose questions. The res is open 24/7, all year.
The doctor’s on-call residence is located underneath the vascular testing labs and the main door is just past medical administration. NCHDs need their I.D.s to gain access. There are bedrooms on either side of the res with bathrooms, lockers and the main res area in the middle. Lockers are available at the start of the year. The main res area has facilities for tea, coffee, a fridge, a microwave and two vending machines. There is also a TV. Mail directed to interns via the hospital will be kept in cubbyholes in the main res room and payslips will be delivered here on the last day of each month (or if the last day falls on a weekend, on the Friday). The IMO notice board is located here as is a copy of who covers what on call. Each bedroom has a notice saying which doctor on call it is intended for. The res rooms are cleaned each day between 9 and 12, and there are lockers in the room. It’s a good idea to bring a lock as some items have disappeared from Res rooms in previous years.
