This is the 5-day ward. This ward is mainly used for elective admissions for surgical and medical procedures who are either discharged by the end of the week or moved to other wards at the weekend if the patients need further management, and it is closed down during the weekends. This is a busy ward with a high turnover of patients. The endocrine team run endocrine tests on the ward e.g. insulin tolerance test, water deprivation tests, etc in Jervis. The respiratory team may have admissions for sleep studies or bronchoscopy +/- biopsy. Many other teams will have one intern specifically assigned to this ward for admissions. A crushed ice machine is available here. This ward lies below AB Cleary, above St Teresa’s and opposite Hardwicke.
Hardwicke:
Consultants: Surgical/Ortho/Gynae

This is a general surgical ward with a variety of patients from surgical teams. This ward lies below Bank’s, above St Laurence’s and opposite Jervis.
St Luke’s:

Another general surgical ward with many colorectal patients. There is a fax machine on the ward. There is a photocopier in the doctor’s office. This ward lies below Damien’s, above Whitworth and opposite Hamilton.
Hamilton:
Consultants: Dr Conlon, Dr Donohoe, Prof Walshe, Mr Byrne, and Mr Gaughan.

This is another renal ward where most CAPD patients are. There is also a 5-day section where patients are admitted for procedures such as pre transplant work up coronary angiogram, etc. Note that gynae patients are also admitted here. Note that the same system for bloods exists here as in Peter’s. This ward is below Peter’s, opposite Luke’s and is above St Paul’s.
Miscellaneous:
Tutorial room between Luke’s and Hamilton is usually used for intern tutorials (every Wednesday at 12:45pm). Intern tutors office is also located here.
